Bob* and Irene Block
Irene and Bob both grew up in Cincinnati. After serving as a pilot in World War II, Bob came back and helped build out Woodlawn. Irene had family that lived near Bob, who introduced them. Shortly after, they were married.
Irene and Bob were both actively involved in the Cincinnati Jewish community, at Jewish Vocational Service, Brandeis University, Bonds for Israel, Glen Manor (now Cedar Village), and the Jewish Hospital. They were particularly inspired to provide opportunity to those in need, and hope to continue that legacy with this gift.

Legacy is a sharing of fortune. I know I have been fortunate in life, so I believe it my responsibility to help those who are needy.
Family is the most important thing to me. I support them as I can, and feel that they are part of my legacy.
Early in life, I was very involved in the Jewish community. I was always taught, if we don’t take care of our own, who will? Both my late husband and I followed in our family’s footsteps, giving both our time and resources to help how we could.
Bob was the most generous, kind, and honest man I knew. We were married only 37 years—I just regret it couldn’t have lasted longer.
Before Bob passed, he worried about future generations and wanted to continue his generosity after he was gone. He has provided for me, our family, and his beloved organizations— and I now see in action what a legacy means.
