Rabbi Dr. Nelson Glueck
A Cincinnati native, Nelson Glueck was an American rabbi, academic, and archaeologist. He served as president of Hebrew Union College from 1947 until his death and felt strongly that rabbinical training at HUC would continue in Cincinnati, the birthplace of American Reform Judaism. He pioneered work in biblical archaeology resulted in the discovery of 1,500 ancient sites. He gave the benediction at President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration and was featured in Time magazine cover story in 1963.
