Jay* and Sue Price

Sue was born in New York City, and grew up in Buffalo. Jay was raised in Pittsburgh. They both came to Cincinnati to work and have since established their family here. Growing up, Sue and Jay both encountered various forms of anti-Semitism, which has been a driving force for them to be proud of their identity and get involved. For them, participating and giving back was also a way of meeting friends, being a part of the community, and living out the values their parents taught them.

In 1987, I visited Cincinnati after an interview on campus with Jay for a job at P&G. Jay and Sue were so welcoming taking Cindy and I out for dinner. Beyond selling P&G, Jay sold the strength of the Cincinnati Jewish community, and he was right. Not only was it strong in '87, but it was even made stronger by Jay's numerous contributions. Miss you!

Although I knew Jay as a nice person in the community, he became my mentor in 2012 when I was Campaign Chair for the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. We quickly became friends. During our time together on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Federation, I often relied on Jay's calm demeanor, experience, kindness and wisdom. I am grateful for everything I learned from Jay, I am grateful for all the things he did to make the Cincinnati community stronger, and, I am particularly grateful to have called Jay a friend.

I first met Jay at P&G, but we didn’t really work together. When my husband and I began to run into him at temple, he always took the time to stop and speak with us and make us feel welcome. Many people would not even remember a passing professional acquaintance, let alone go out of their way to consistently reach out. Jay contributed to the community in so many ways, and this is just a small example of his kindness.
